ADSCC, Yas Clinic pioneer CAR-T cell therapy for life-threatening lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome
Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Centre (ADSCC), in collaboration with Yas Clinic Khalifa City, has achieved a groundbreaking success by administering CAR-T cell therapy to a 38-year-old male patient battling severe systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and triple-positive antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). This remarkable feat signifies a major leap forward in treating complex autoimmune conditions right here in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
A Challenging Case
The patient’s medical history presented a significant challenge, marked by diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, recurrent subdural hematomas, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, IVC thrombosis, and Budd-Chiari syndrome. Despite intensive treatment using immunosuppressants and anticoagulants, the condition remained active and posed a serious threat to his life.
