Abu Dhabi Police activate a new smart automatic road traffic violation detection system from April 15
Abu Dhabi Police will activate a new smart detection system to catch motorists with expired vehicle registration in the capital from April 15, the police announced on Tuesday.
The new system will detect vehicles with expired registration and issue fines to the owners. The violators will be fined Dh500 and four black points recorded against them. Their vehicles will also be impounded for seven days, police said.
The system will be activated on the internal and external roads of the emirate. It will also save time and help reduce human efforts in the traffic departments.
The new system aims to further strengthen road safety for motorists. Police urged motorists to renew their vehicle licences and insurance from the licensing entities concerned in the emirate.
Brigadier General Ahmad Al Shehi, deputy director of the police’s Traffic Directorate, said the new system will bring in positive results and drive motorists to follow vehicle licensing and renewal rules.
He urged motorists to renew their expired plates before a fine is generated.
As per Article 25B of Road Traffic Law (driving a vehicle with expired licence), a Dh500 fine with four black traffic points will be imposed on the motorist and the vehicle confiscated for seven days.
