Abu Dhabi City Receives Dynamic Communities Award
The Dynamic Communities Award granted the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City the Gold Award in the City E category on June 2, 2023. The Department of Municipalities and Transport presented this award at a ceremony held in Malta. It won the Gold award in Urban Planning and Design and the Silver award in the Project category for the Abu Dhabi Corniche Parks and Gardens project.
City Outperforms All Participants with Impressive Results
Abu Dhabi City Municipality outshone all other participating countries by winning both Gold and Silver awards. This achievement highlights Abu Dhabi City’s prestigious global standing as one of the world’s most progressive capitals. Its livability and inclusive approach, which caters to the needs of all residents and visitors including the elderly, have earned it renown.
This award is a collaborative initiative between the LivCom Committee, the United Nations International Institute on Ageing – Malta (UN-INIA), ISOCARP, the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), the local government of Birgu city, and the American University of Malta (AUM).
Director-General Expresses Immense Pride

LivCom Award: A Prestigious International Competition
Incepted in 1997, the LivCom Award stands as the most prestigious international competition endorsed by the United Nations. It aims to spotlight global best practices in local environmental management and sustainable development of cities based on six criteria. The objective is to enhance the quality of life by fostering “livable communities”. The LivCom Award attracts participation from 260 cities and 42 projects.
Abu Dhabi City’s Sustainable Development Initiatives
Abu Dhabi City’s sustainable development initiatives have earned global recognition for implementing sustainable practices that promote environmental protection and enhance the quality of life for its residents and visitors. These initiatives include:
