Abu Dhabi emirate has a total of 57 species of terrestrial and marine reptiles and two species of amphibians. Out of the 57 species of reptiles, 49 are terrestrial and eight are marine species. These reptiles and amphibians belong to three main orders namely Anura, Squamata and Testudines and 13 families. The family Gekkonidae has the highest numbers of species at 16, followed by 6 species each for the Agamidae, Lacertidae and Scincidae. There are 11 species of terrestrial snakes in the following families Leptotyphlopidae (one species), Boidae (one species), Colubridae (six species), Viperidae (three species). Read report below.
