The City that brings the Artist in you!

When Sir Thomas More first stumbled across the Greek word Utopia in 1516, little did he realize that civic perfection could ever be achieved. Well, I’ve lived in Abu Dhabi for 3 years now, and I realize every day, how much nearer to perfection this city gets.

For me, Abu Dhabi is mystical. It’s a city that excites the artist in me, and it’s the same city that gives me a sense of calm and tranquility. It’s a city where glass skyscrapers shoot straight up from the sand towards clouds, while the winds of the desert silently whisper with happiness. It’s a city where waves from the deep blue blanket the shoreline; like they’re protecting it from the dark skies. It’s a city where lights glitter like shooting stars, with an endless rhyme. The city, fondly known as the grid city, took me sometime to understand. They say walking is the best way to get the lay of the land, and that’s what I did, guarded by the moon above every evening, shining like a guardian angel down on me. It brings in a sense of joy seeing families stroll down the promenade at the corniche, watching children run and chase the sounds of their own giggles.

I remember the days when mother would worry about my survival skills. All I knew was how to boil an egg. 3 years later, I can cook a delicious egg curry, but I still don’t rely on my cooking skills to survive. Abu Dhabi has me covered. This city is a foodie’s paradise. It teaches you to appreciate the tastes and smells from around the world, and satisfies a hunger for soul food within you. After all, it is home to more than 70 nationalities, living, laughing and eating together!

Perhaps all of this explains the extremely low crime rate in the city. Abu Dhabi is a utopia. The people are genuinely happy and genuinely satisfied. As for me, it’s time for my evening karak.
